Part of my Paris series of watercolours. The Fontaine Saint-Michel is a monumental fountain located in Place Saint-Michel in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, constructed between 1858 and 1860 during the French Second Empire by architect Gabriel Davioud. It stands 26 meters high and 15 meters wide and symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, featuring a bronze statue of the Archangel Michael defeating the devil, surrounded by Corinthian columns and statues representing the four cardinal virtues. The fountain is richly decorated with sculptures, including water-spouting dragons, and is a key landmark on the Left Bank, near the Latin Quarter and the Seine. It was part of Baron Haussmann’s urban Layout.

It actually was intended to have Napoleon Bonaparte.
