Hôtel de Soubise in Paris is not a hotel in the modern sense but a historic city mansion, or hôtel particulier, located at 60 Rue des Francs-Bourgeois in the Marais district. It houses the French National Archives, you can view some of the most significant historical documents in French history. Notable items on display include:

    •    The interrogation records of the Knights Templar from 1307.

    •    The revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685.

    •    Marie Antoinette’s last letter before her execution.

    •    Louis XVI’s diary.

    •    Napoleon’s last will and testament.

    •    The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen.

The archives contain documents dating back to 673!
