The Sainte-Chapelle, located on the Île de la Cité in Paris, is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and a significant historical monument. It was commissioned by King Louis IX (later Saint Louis) in the 1240s to house sacred relics of Christ's Passion, including the Crown of Thorns and a fragment of the True Cross. The chapel was consecrated in 1248 and is considered one of the finest examples of the Rayonnant Gothic style, characterized by its emphasis on light and intricate decoration

The current spire, standing at 33 meters (108 feet) tall, is the fifth iteration since the chapel's construction in the 13th century. It was designed by architect Jean-Baptiste Lassus and built between 1852 and 1855 during a major restoration of the chapel. The original spire was destroyed during the French Revolution in 1793
