The Fontaine Saint-Michel is a monumental fountain located in Place Saint-Michel in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. Designed by architect Gabriel Davioud, it was constructed between 1858 and 1860 during the French Second Empire under Napoleon III. The fountain symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, featuring a bronze statue of Archangel Michael defeating a demon. It is adorned with red marble Corinthian columns and statues representing the four cardinal virtues. The fountain is a significant landmark in the Latin Quarter and has been a historical monument since 1926
