Here are some interesting facts about Val-de-Grâce:

Royal Origins: The Val-de-Grâce Church was built by Queen Anne of Austria to celebrate the birth of her son, Louis XIV, in 1638. Louis XIV laid the cornerstone in 1645 when he was seven years old.

Architecture: The church is a notable example of French Baroque architecture with a mix of classicism. It features a grand dome and was designed by François Mansart and Jacques Lemercier.

Historical Significance: During the French Revolution, the abbey was converted into a military hospital, which helped preserve its architectural integrity.

Artistic Masterpiece: The dome’s fresco, “La Gloire des Bienheureux,” was painted by Pierre Mignard and is one of the largest in Paris.

Modern Use: Today, the Val-de-Grâce complex includes a museum for the Army Medical Corps and is open to visitors
