The Panthéon is a historic monument located in the Latin Quarter of Paris, originally commissioned by King Louis XV as a church dedicated to Saint Genevieve. Designed by architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot, it was built between 1758 and 1790 in a neoclassical style, featuring a magnificent dome standing 83 meters high.
Historical Significance
During the French Revolution, the building was transformed from a church into a secular mausoleum to honor France’s most distinguished citizens. Since 1885, it has served as the final resting place for notable French figures such as Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, and Marie and Pierre Curie
